Last fall, Washington was one of only two universities in the nation (along with North Carolina) to secure postseason berths for every team: Football, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, and Men’s and Women’s Cross Country. Volleyball also had its first home sellout in program history when it hosted No. 2 Nebraska.
After a stellar start to our inaugural Big Ten season, our winter and spring teams continued the momentum.
Women’s Basketball (19-14) made it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight years.
Men’s and Women’s Track & Field dominated their indoor season, setting numerous personal, school, NCAA and even World bests. At the Husky Classic, Ronan McMahon-Staggs, Bodi Ligons, Kyle Reinheimer and Nathan Green set a new World Record in distance medley relay with mind-blowing 9:14.10, also breaking the NCAA and school records in the process. Track & Field won six events at the Big Ten Indoor Championships — with both squads finishing in the top-five — and Women’s Track & Field tied for fourth place at the NCAA Indoor Championships, their best finish ever in school history.
Washington proved its might on the water once again this spring, with Men’s Rowing holding off Harvard to win back-to-back IRA National Championship titles, their 21st title in program history and 10th title in the last 19 seasons. Women’s Rowing swept all seven grand finals to win the Big Ten Championships, just the second team in the 25-year history of the regatta to ever sweep.
Softball, Men’s Tennis, and Women’s Tennis also made post-season play. Men’s Tennis ended the season ranked No. 37, the team’s highest ranking since 2013, and Women’s Tennis finished the year ranked No. 18, their highest since 2019.
