- Captured the last two of the Huskies’ impressive run of national championships in the 1980s, as the UW won seven titles in eight years.
- The 1987 crew was coached by Bob Ernst, and the 1988 team was coached by Jan Harville.
- After having had a streak of five straight national titles broken in 1986, UW won the 1987 national title at Lake Natoma, beating Yale by 3.6 seconds in the grand final. Washington also won the JV eight and the four at that same regatta. That 1987 crew, which also won the first-ever Pac-10 Women’s Rowing Championship, finished the season undefeated.
- After winning the Pac-10 title for the second year in a row (and the West Coast championship for the 13th consecutive season), the Huskies defended their national title on Lake Hammond in Tioga, Pa., beating second-place Yale for the title once again.
