Two dedicated supporters receive Tyee Club honors
Former Husky Baseball pitcher Josh Fredendall (BS Political Economy, 2015) and Seattle native and longtime donor Susan Dunn (BA Speech Communication, 1983) earn this year’s most distinguished awards from the Tyee Club.
A three-time team captain and one of the Pac-12’s top closers, Josh played for Washington from 2012 through 2015. He receives the Dave and Ruth Cohn Alumni Merit Award, established in 1988 to recognize a former letterwinner who exemplifies integrity, leadership, sportsmanship and community involvement paralleling UW Athletics’ core values.
“My experience at the UW changed my life and I never take that for granted,” the Big W Club member says. “When I graduated in 2015, I wanted to stay involved and give back, so I joined the Young Tyee Board to help strategize ways to keep recent graduates engaged.”
The Tyee Club recognized Josh’s valuable insights as an alumnus and later appointed him to the Tyee Sports Council and the Tyee Board of Advisors. The Los Angeles resident works as a wealth manager and is married to Nicole Winters Fredendall (BA Communications, 2015).
Frank Orrico Award winner Susan Dunn served for six years on the Tyee Board of Advisors. She earns the honor, established in 1994, as a Tyee Club member who represents extraordinary dignity, courage, commitment and generosity to UW Athletics.
“I know how much the University of Washington has done for me. When I reached the point in my life where I had money to share with others, I was excited to be able to support Husky Athletics and other important UW programs,” explains Susan. “An investment in the Huskies is an investment in the entire state of Washington.”
As a longtime Husky Football and Men’s Basketball fan, Susan loves to attend games.
She has given generously to support the new Basketball facility and has also donated to teams including Women’s Basketball, Women’s Soccer, and Gymnastics.
